So Mini Me gets homework that he has to complete every week, maths and spellings at the moment and on top of this he also gets a ‘topic’ every fortnight which is just one word and he has to do something related to that topic. It can be anything he likes, there are no right or wrong answers……and I pull my hair out every time! So this week the topic was ‘materials’ and my first thought was ‘What the fluff are we going to do for that?’ Then Mini Me had a brainwave, we have recently been to Quarry Bank Mill in Styal – a National Trust property, which used to be a cotton mill many years ago (and was the setting for the TV Series ‘The Mill’ funnily enough) so why don’t we do a project on that? Fan-fluffing-tastic! So, on his teacher training day, which happily fell in the middle of the two weeks, we headed back to Quarry Bank Mill to get some photos and learn about Cotton…

I cannot reccommend Quarry Bank Mill highly enough! We had a fab day out, and as we are National Trust members it cost me nothing to park, and nothing to go in the Mill and the Gardens. We had lunch at the cafe, which was lovely, and we even stopped at the new Garden cafe and had a cuppa and an ice cream (no need to tell you who had what!). There was an interactive map for Mini Me to use going around the Mill, he had to find the hidden mouse in various rooms, and then got a sticker when he did so – and lord knows Mini Me loves a sticker! There is also a trail in the gardens at the moment, with a map and various clues you have to solve. We had so much fun, and rain didn’t even stop play!

We then spent four hours putting his project together on the Sunday, with mummy biting her tongue at the slow one-fingered typing – that is the control freak in me!

He handed the project in on Monday, so fingers crossed he gets a good mark!!!

So I was reading a conversation on Facebook the other day between a friend of mine who has horses, and her friend, where they were discussing the finer points of some detangling spray they had for their horses and how great it was. And Kerry said ‘ I might try it on my hair, it smells gorgeous!’.

At first, I thought Ugh! Horse spray, but the more i thought about it the more it made sense – I mean I have never seen a horse with a frizzy tail have you? And this damp weather is driving me nuts!

Anyway, I did a bit of research (ie I googled it) and came up with Mane ‘n’ Tail, and so I went on to Amazon and ordered it for next day delivery! Yes, that’s how nuts my hair was driving me!

And this morning the miracle products appeared:

And do you know what – it works! Shampoo smells delicious, like apples, and you only need a little as it lathers really well. When I rinsed it off my hair actually squeaked it was that clean! It hasn’t squeaked for years!  The conditioner was really light and smelt more perfumed, and I only left it on for a couple of minutes as per the instructions and it rinsed out easily.

Normally it takes me about 20 minutes to dry my hair – it is thin but there is a lot of it – and then i usually straighten it. However, this is me after blow drying roughly for ten minutes:

I am very impressed I have to say. Hair feels lovely and soft, little bit of a shine but the smell has worn off now – I guess no one wants their horse to be perfumed! And no, I haven’t grown hooves and started neighing!

Really needed this today:

‘ The greatest secret of all, Louise, is how deeply you’re loved.

You have no idea.’

and the PS:

‘Hint, Louise: You live in a paradise where anything can happen next. You’re powerful beyond measure, inclined to succeed, and, in just a moment, capable of drawing friends, clarity, healing, and happiness into your life. You have but to think new thoughts and mountains move; speak new words and you shall be heard; take fresh steps and your stars will align. And every angel knows your name.’

So a few weeks ago I’m browsing Facebook, just minding my own business, when this amazing deal on a hammock from Coopers of Stortford catches my eye! A proper free-standing cotton hammock reduced from £79.99 to £39.99 and then there was a code to get an extra 20% off! AND free delivery. Mini Me has always wanted a hammock, so who was I to refuse?? Yes, I bought it! It did say it would take up to four weeks for delivery which was a bit of a bummer, but hey, summer here is so unpredictable right? Anyway, to cut a long story short it arrived on Sunday, whilst I was in York, and so I put it up in the scorching heat yesterday! Bad idea as i was sweating like a pig when I’d finished, but Mini Me couldn’t have been happier:

He loves it! Can’t get him out of it at the moment! But I will at some point as I think it is the perfect place to read my book 🙂

You can get your own hammock here. Its a bargain!

You can sign up for your own daily note from the Universe here. I was pretty sceptical at first, but actually, I have found it useful to help me take a minute and reflect on things. Also helps me to start the day with a more positive midset.
